Explore Your Body

What if your body were lean and flexible?

How would your life be different if there weren't any tension in your shoulders or back?

Does being able to go through your day without pain sound useful to you?

How about getting rid of all that background chatter in your head?

"I just want to thank you for what you have taught me.  I was beginning to think I would never dance again.  Not only can I dance now, but my whole life has improved!  Even my business has tripled!"

Over a lifetime, the cumulative effects of illness, injury, stress, poor diet, negative thoughts and emotions, sleep deprivation and environmental over-stimulation can rob even the strongest body of its ability to rejuvenate itself.  This manifests as disease, allergies, postural distortions, chronic pain and just about every other physical malady you can think of.  We have a name for the cumulative effect of environmental stresses which become self-sustaining; Translative Tension™.

A key feature of this process is the development of something called trigger points. Trigger Points are areas in a persons muscles or connective tissue (tendons, ligaments etc) which have become ischemic (lack of oxygen and blood flow). They are those little sore spots in different areas of your body. They can be as small as a dime or they can be clusters of trigger points which can cover an entire area such as the hips and lower back.

Trigger points can be caused directly through strain, direct trauma/injury, and repetitive stress among others. However, due to the inclusive nature of Translative Tension™, trigger points are often not just sore spots in the muscle leftover from physical injury, they are also physical reminders of mental and emotional friction.

While Translative Tension includes mind and emotions, as opposed to the constantly changing and flowing nature of thought, the body is much more solid and this makes it the perfect place to not only start exploring ones self, but also the perfect place to start noticing rapid changes. Every little twist, turn, bump, bruise, and imbalance can not only be seen, but felt as well. In effect, the body is a near perfect road map for the story of our lives, and the way we have chosen to live it. It is this very thing which gives changes made to the body the power to influence not only feelings and appearance, but outlook, self esteem, satisfaction and overall happiness.

As you can see below, the results of two private sessions can cause some fairly dramatic results both objectively and subjectively.

Some things to notice in the photos below:

Notcie the trimmer midline.

Look at how the legs have straightened.

Notice how the hips have aligned and the shoulders have relaxed as a result.

See how her head has seemingly come out of her shoulders...she now has a neck!
